Reality Was Kinder Than the Story
Today’s tiny victory was not that everything worked out.
It was discovering that reality was kinder than the story I had already written.
There is a peculiar human habit of trying to finish unfinished chapters.
A text goes unanswered.
A conversation ends awkwardly.
A meeting gets rescheduled.
A friend grows quiet.
And before new information arrives, the imagination rushes in to fill the space.
The mind becomes an enthusiastic novelist.
Entire plots emerge.
Motives are assigned.
Endings are drafted.
Disasters are rehearsed.
The future is completed before it has even happened.
Sometimes these stories are accurate.
Many times they are not.
Today’s observation is simple:
The imagination is not a reliable weather station.
It often mistakes possibility for certainty.
The Observatory would like to gently remind travelers that unanswered questions are still questions.
They are not automatically bad news.
Not every silence is rejection.
Not every delay is disaster.
Not every closed door is locked.
Sometimes people are driving home.
Sometimes phones are off.
Sometimes conversations are waiting for the right moment.
Sometimes the next page simply has not arrived yet.
Today’s tiny victory was allowing reality the opportunity to speak for itself.
And when it finally did, it turned out to be softer than fear predicted.
Not perfect.
Not magical.
Just kinder.
That counts.
Actually, it counts a lot.
