Fireflowers

There are evenings when the garden forgets it's a garden.
The light catches the petals just right, and for a few minutes they stop looking like flowers and begin looking like tiny flames.
I wasn't trying to make art.
I was simply paying attention.
I've noticed that many of my favorite discoveries begin this way. A different angle. A slower pace. An ordinary thing seen long enough that it becomes extraordinary.
This is one of those moments.
